Not going to lie, it was awesome.

I got to hang out at Southern Eagle Distributor‘s headquarters and see what Peter Busch has been up to while making a name for himself beyond the great legacy his father has left behind. It was such an exciting experience all around. Not only did I get to meet Mr. Busch, but this is also my very first publication! It was so cool to see my photographs in print AND ON THE COVER of the magazine! I will try to upload some photos of it soon, but for now, here is a small look into my afternoon with Peter Busch.

*OH!* And the critters are from his wildlife refuge, something which I will be doing another photoshoot on for the magazine in the near future!

I changed my major a hundred times, tried all sorts of crazy things (like science…), and wanted to convince myself that one day I was just going to know deep down in my gut what I was supposed to do.

Then one day, a good friend of mine asked me to take his engagement pictures. I think I may have laughed at him at first. Maybe even rolled my eyes. But I agreed, and had a great time hanging out with them and watching their love unfold in front of my camera. Once they saw the pictures, they told me I should be a photographer. Again, I am pretty sure I laughed if off and didn’t think much about it…until a couple hours later, when I still couldn’t stop thinking about it. I LOVED taking pictures, and especially loved taking pictures of people. People are so interesting, and the opportunity to uncover a tiny bit of their personality through photographs intrigued the heck out of me. A few more photoshoots and the internship of a lifetime later and I was hooked.

Fast-forward to three or four years later (isn’t it terrible that I can’t remember how long I’ve been doing this?) and I am still at it. And this time the photoshoot is to welcome Doug and Ashley to the world of parenthood. Its a first for all of us really; I have never had the chance to do an entire maternity shoot and this is their very first baby. I honestly can’t imagine that there is any couple more qualified to be parents; they both have hearts made out of pure gold and the love of Christ to fill their lives.

I am so excited for them and for you, my reading friends, to see the pictures! Come back soon! I always miss you when you go away.

Cross your fingers for me! It would be such a terrific experience to get to partner with this magazine and I would be honored to have my image on their cover!

It took me a really long time to figure out how to get it just right, and this one isn’t perfect, but pretty darn close! This one is pretty simple compared to Jamie’s, but I still feel like I have accomplished something NEAT-O! I think these things are amazing…they aren’t quite a picture but also not a movie; they fall somewhere in between. It is something that people are either going to LOVE or not care for at all, but I am smitten with it and wanted to share this milestone with you! I plan on creating many more in the future!

I am working on trying to make my blog more user friendly and SEO optimized (if ya wanna know what it is, Google it because I couldn’t explain it if my life depended on it) so I am trying some new stuff out. I would be thrilled to hear any sort of feedback on whether or not they like how things are looking or would prefer them to be different. Do you like the slideshow and music? Or would you prefer to just scroll through the pictures yourself and not wait? Do you like the smaller size of everything or did you like when everything was larger? Did it still take a long time for the post to load or was it better? Even if you just leave a comment that says “Yes” or “No” would make me inclined to like you more…

Aren’t little girlies just dreamy? Emalyn likes to dance and sing, and I’m pretty sure she’s going to be an astronaut one day (she’ll make her own space shuttle and get up there somehow) since she couldn’t keep her eyes off of the sky.

This photoshoot was good to my heart; it is love in the simplest and yet most complicated form, walking around on two chubby legs with a whole lotta ‘tude and excitement for what surrounds her. That’s the kind of stuff that makes me gush.

We had hoped to get a couple shots of her with red lipstick actually on her lips, however she thought it looked better on the rest of her body instead. Who knows, we could have a trender-in-the-making on our hands, folks. Who wants to wear lipstick on their lips anyway?

- Mike and Nicole work for Sunglass Hut, hence all of the fancy sunglasses at this wedding
- Nicole’s brother is serving overseas and couldn’t attend the wedding, so her family had a cardboard cutout they took around instead!
- Nicole’s brother’s wife (who was a bridesmaid) Skyped with Nicole’s brother for almost the entire wedding so he wouldn’t miss out on all of the fun. Thats who is on the phone in a few of the pictures.
- Mission San Luis is a beautiful venue, and I am very sad that I have never had the opportunity to visit until this wedding!
- John Gandy and his crew made mine and Kim’s job so much easier!
- Greg Tish kept the party hopping!
- I love shooting with Kimberly Brock!
